Recruitment Systems was established in 1999 within IT recruitment firm Candle Australia (now Clarius Group).

One of the branch managers, Neil Bolton needed a database to help him track the thousands of candidates and resumes which the business was based on. After careful research of all the relevant databases on the market, Neil realised that no product fulfilled his needs. Like a true entrepreneur, Neil saw this gap in the market as an opportunity and teamed up with expert software developer Slava Barouline to produce the Candle Recruitment Information System (CRIS).

As CRIS developed, it became clear it had enormous potential and was a product which was suited to recruiters in other agencies and industries as well as his own.

So, Recruitment Systems was formed to develop and market the product worldwide. CRIS was redeveloped from the ground up as a brand new product, based around Neil's recruitment experience and passion for great recruitment. The database evolved and was launched as TRIS – the Total Recruitment Information System – in 2008.

TRIS is now used by many organisations in more than 20 countries around the world.
